What is the correct polarity for DC camera power connections?
Standard 12VDC CCTV cameras use centre-positive polarity (+ on the centre pin). Always connect positive to the inner terminal and negative to the outer terminal of the DC jack.

Do I need both male and female DC jacks?
Yes — for a serviceable connection: male at the PSU end, female at the camera end. They mate together to form the completed power connection at each camera position.

Can I use these with PoE IP cameras?
PoE IP cameras receive power over the CAT5/6 cable and don't require DC power connectors. These DC jacks are for analogue cameras and non-PoE IP cameras powered via a 12VDC PSU.
