FAQ
Are CAT6 and CAT5e boots interchangeable?
No — CAT6 cable has a larger outer diameter than CAT5e. Always use the correctly sized boot for your cable grade to ensure a proper fit over the connector.
When do I put the boot on?
Before crimping — slide the boot onto the cable, crimp the RJ45 connector, then slide the boot forward over the connector body. It cannot be fitted after crimping.
Do I need boots on patch cable connections as well?
Yes, especially in rack environments where cables are frequently connected and disconnected — boots protect the latch from the most common type of damage.
